This year I had the opportunity to go to Kansas City, MO and view the Skills USA Competition. Derek Daufeldt , Blue Grass, Iowa, from Scott Community College placed 3rd.

Here are some photos of the competition. Again they made the same fittings as last year. This was Derek's first competition at the National Level.

I'm very impressed with the skill level of the students in the 2011 skills challenge. In the pictures, it looks like they had to fabricate a twist transition installed with a square to round transition.

As a Sheet Metal Instructor myself, I can say that these students can be very proud of their accomplishments.

You should look at getting involved in Skills USA The recognition that our students get gives them increased employment. http://www.skillsusa.org/

They should be able to get you in contact with your state representative.
