Hi there,

I found a website called www.stampingsimulation.com and he reckons he can simulate the forming process in a draw die using something called finite element analysis and predict problems like wrinkles and splits.

I want to get him to do some simulation for me but first I want to know if anyone here has every heard of this or done it before. Is it something I can do myself? I think I will try him anyway, since he offered to do one for free.

Any info anyone has would be good.

Hello,
Finite element analysis, is used to "test" a CAD design to see where stress and falure will possibly happen. Most mass marketed items are tested this way as part of the disign proccess. If it's done correctly and using the right "data", it should work. Keep us informed!

Thanks
Richard
