This could be useful for finding the angle of ductwork on a larger scale.
Using a radius of 28 5/8" to draw a circle, the circle has a circumference of 180". For every 1/2" you measure around the circle would represent 1 degree. I have used this before in retrofitting duct work, where the duct were positioned well apart from each other and they are angled in such a way that they will converge together.
I would drop a plumb bob from the edge of the two ducts to form lines on the floor. The lines were gotten off the sides of the duct where the throat of the elbow will soon be. Where the two lines intersected, the area where the center of the throat would be, I would use this point as the center of the circle. Draw the circle, step off the required area and you have the degrees needed to order your fitting. |
