Is "Steadman" a brand name? I have several different brands of tongs, Malco, Fairmount and Imperial in strait, wide and offset. I have never heard of Steadman tongs before. Maybe some one else here can help.

Welcome to the shop!

Hamlet are the tongs of choice out west.
Those can be found on their website.
H&H toolco.
And no, this is not an advertisement. I just tried Steadman, and couldn't find them. Ok, I found it on the Waldron site. No images of what they look like, but they're definitely less expensive than hamlet tongs.

My local supplier said Stedman retired.Another company started making a similar tong ,it has the same shop but the jaw depth is 1 1/4 (much to my boss's surprise Laughing )and fractional graduations (for depth) molded into the casting.
For those who haven't seen one the tongs have a curved handle, instead of the straight like the Malco, and a little weight to them .They can be used to bend, hammer and pry.

purchased two pair of steadman's tongs, one strait and one offset, best hand tongs i ever used, this was in 1984.it must have been a small outfit becuse the invoice i recieved was hand written,he also stated he would be retireing soon.I paid 14.00 dollars each plus shipping for the tongs.the address then was, Steadman tools Inc. p.o. box592 Erie Pennsylvania 16512
hope this helps. Very Happy
