Our steel shop runs only stainless steel and now we have the need to run aluminum. Our QC guy is adamant that we need to purchase separate tooling for alum. We have two Pega machines with both Wilson and Amada tooling. I have run this in other shops and never had a compatibility problem. What does the rest of the world say on this?

I have a Strippit 30/30 and have no problem running steel, stainless, and aluminum with the same tooling. The only reason to change tooling is for matierial thickness, and don't forget to change the slug bucket, the scrap isn't worth anything if it is mixed.

Any worries about corrosion at any point such as powder coating?

We punch almost all aluminum and frequently throw some stainless on there, and just got done running 20sheets of steel on our punch..0 problems. I've been doing this for 7yrs.
