Post subject:Square Duct to Double Wall Spiral Takeoff Fitting

Does such a thing exist? Kinda like a conical tap for single wall spiral pipe, but made for double wall spiral pipe.
Maybe an oversized single wall takeoff with a coupling? Those could be storebought and minimize fab time, but then that part has to be lined.
Or is a square to round with the round sized to fit over the outer spiral pipe how it is done? Seems like pushing air between the pipe sections isn't a good thing, even though the inner pipe is perforated.
Got a job where the engineers have specified double wall spiral feeds into VAV boxes and no flex connections at all. The VAV boxes have single wall round inlets.
They have also speced sections of double wall spiral between rectangular TDC flanged medium pressure ducting. All rectangular duct is lined.
How are dead connections handled without the use of flex connectors? I was thinking of using the Lindab double wall field cut adapter piece and a drawband. The adapter piece creates a single wall sized connection.
There wouldn't be any dead connections if all the material was available from start to finish, but we all know how that works.
Some of the job is exposed, so it has to look good.
Any ideas are appreciated. |

| sounds like this job has been way over engineered .This is why they should have to work on their tools in the field a minimun of 5 yrs before they draw the first drawing.Bring him out to the job and put him on the lift and tell him to make up that dead connection with that double wall spiral.The next time he will draw in flex connectors. |

But the problem still remains, and the engineers (at least on this job) are of little help. |
