Hi,

Let me start by saying I don't know much about sheet metal. I received a .dxf file from a friend in Europe. I have sent this file to several sheet metal manufacturers here in Austin and they sound helpful on the phone, and say they will send me a quote, but then after they receive the file I never hear from them. Is there something wrong with this file? My friend said that it would be easy for a manufacturer to use. Is this just too complicated to make for a small project and not worthwhile for a sheet metal manufacturer? Is it that the verbiage needs to be translated? Any suggestions where I could go to get these made? (They are picture mounts about .7 mm and I need 25-50 of them.)

You're missing a lot of information on this drawing. What is the size of the cutout? where is it located? What size is it? Is that "sandvik"? If the language is swedish, I really can't tell, that means sand. which would not be necessary because a weld is not necessary if a press brake is used. The small bracket would probably be spot welded on, but where? what size? You mentioned .7 mm metal. aluminum? stainless?

Having a job shop translate a foreign drawing causes problems. I used to do a lot of work for german companies. Using a german/english dictionary seldom helped. Ask a german for help, I get "Oh that's slang, the dictionary won't help?" Slang???

The work that I was doing for the german companies was very profitable, so it was worth the extra time and effort. Picture mounts? Not so much.

Is that swedish? Or did I guess wrong?

Thanks for your detailed reply. Yes that is Swedish. I guess I didn't look close enough at the drawing because I thought all the measurements were there. I will ask him what Handvik means. Obviously this drawing needs more info.
