Just saw Iron Man tonight and I have to say it was better than expected. Seriously dreaded the idea of the lead actor being in the movie simply because of prejudice; he did surprisingly well. Obviously the movie is 110% cgi baloney and very little actual metal work.
But have to admit I want to run out and pound out a suit of armor. Kind of brings back memories of the antiquidated book entitled "Iron Men" that I read back in junior high. Iron Man might not be within a realistic goal to make, but surely something from the Dark Ages could be done in a couple hundred man hours I'd think. Has anyone ever successfully accomplished such a feat? Not something high tech, mind you, have you pounded out a set of realistic armor? Please share if you have. |

Closest I have ever come was building a sholder brace for my father. No real measuring involved, I used the "stare and fit" method. It worked well. I would love to get some more shaping tools and do some "freestyle" metal work.
From what I saw on the trailers for Iron Man, it did look pretty good. |

| I don't know about that Stick, but I hear all of his long-time friends call him "Rusty" |

I'm always on the look out for new material - if you spot it anywhere and give me a lead, I can probably pick it up and add it for all to enjoy |

I thought the movie was pretty entertaining.
I never read the comic book... er, graphic novel , so I found the whole electromagnet thing hard to swallow with all the available technology in the movie.
Of course, Pepper is very lovely.
Stay through the credits... more at the very end. |
