Just wondering how work is going for everyone? I've been laid off since January 2nd. This has been a long, cold, snowy winter... I just want spring so hopefully work picks up. Really sucks being off this long.

Some of the roofing companies came out of hibernation this past week. We do a lot of subcontracting; otherwise we scratch, bite and claw our way through the winters.

Business has been picking up.....mostly getting the stock rack filled before all the metal increases hit. The pre-fab steel buildings are really moving now mostly because of the steel prices....if you plan on building this year you better be buying now.

We had a welcomed slow-down back in October, and stayed at 40 hour weeks through Christmas, but picked back up after that and are back to 50-60 hour weeks now. That is, in the commercial dept. Residential dept. is about 40hr weeks. We have several large jobs coming up...I keep hearing about a recession, but we are not seeing it down here thankfully.

Things are very slow up here in Michigan. Word has it there will be another metal increase of 18% or so by August 1st. Has anyone else heard about this? Any way were of 60% last year and it's not getting much better. I wish we could band together to buy sheetmetal in bulk for us little guys to help keep the costs down. I would like to here some opinions on this. Question

Yea,..Same here on that metal cost. We still aren't seeing this recession here. Business is good for everyone in my area. We'll see how it goes this fall/winter. That's when we really see change...
