Post subject:Cutomer slow on the pick up of his order? PostPosted: Mar 10, 2008 - 05:03 PM #7343

I fabricate the duct, have it ready to go, and then it sits. I dont get a deposit because the sale is never really that much, But perhaps if I did that would have them pick up the order faster? I would like to get my money faster and I would also like to stop moving their duct around my shop. What do you do?

thanks

I went thru that for years ,but finally decided to start getting %50 down on anything more than $500.00 .And giving them 30 days to pick it up.At least i can get something for moving their ductwork around the shop till they get ready to pick it up. When they have their money invested it seems to get them moving on getting it out the door a little quicker.Hey worse case scenario they never pick it up ,but at least i got something for my time.

The straw that broke the camel's back was when i had fabricated a pretty good size job, worked nites and weekends it took me around a week to 10 days to make. They had to have in a hurry.Called them and told them to come and pick up some to get started. No they wanted it all at one time.I moved it around the shop for about 2 -3 weeks ,calling them constantly please come and get this stuff It's all finished .Finally they send a guy over to pick it up and it was well over 120 days before I got paid. They had my time and money tied up for around 5 months.NEVER,NEVER again will i start a job with out some money down. If they don't have money in the bank to cover the materials on THIER jobs ,what makes them think that I am sitting on this big pile of money waiting for them to call to finance their jobs.I have enough problems financing my own jobs much less somebody else's.Sorry for rambling on,but i am sure just about everybody on here has been thru this before. If they don't have money for materials i don't want the business, they can take it somewere else.If i hurt someone's feelings i don't care ....................................................................................................If i'm gonna be broke at least i won't be tired , wore out ,and broke.
