| I am currently studing to take my sheet metal worker exam. I am not new to the trade but have never gotten the opportunity to become an apprentice. I am being asked by my employer to challenge the exam with out any in school time or shop time. I have been installing for about 9 years and the studying seems to be a daunting task. I really enjoy the trade and feel my job depends on me getting my license. I feel that if I get my license it would be a slap in the face to all of you that have gone to trade school. This career is all I know and would appreciate any help anyone could give me. |

Welcome Saub! I don't know where your from, but the Canadian C of Q test is hard if you don't know your math. I did it when they changed the test without changing the schooling. What really saved my butt was good math skills especially triangulation. There was also a fair bit on print reading, finding and identifying units, radius allowances on fittings, finding true lengths of transition and square to rounds. The test is multiple choice a,b,c or d. 2 answers are way off, but 2 are close to each other if you know what i mean. So you'll have a 50-50 chance when guessing or drawing a blank. Don't freak out if your drawing blanks, I skipped questions and went back to them and found the answers came to me later. Take your time, relax and use the full time to do it. I did and passed when the test was having a 95% fail rate. Good luck hope I helped in some way.
