Hello, let me introduce myself. I am Tom Lux, the General Manager from RAMS Sheet Metal Equipment. We are currently developing a one of a kind machine that no other manufacturer offers. I would like to get your input to see if this machine is something that would spark your interest.

We are calling it the RAMS-2014 Auxiliary Machine. There will be no "S" cleat down the middle. What we will have is outboard shafts on both sides of the machine and down the middle will be the drive gears to power the outboard shafts. On the outboard shafts we have developed what we call the square drive. This eliminates the need for a key and a keyway on the roller. We have instituted that on our new S & Drive Machine that is now available. We will be offering (Right Angle), (Drive Cleat), (ACME Double Seam), (3 & 1, Tap In) and (Male and Female Button Lock rolls). You will be able to choose which rolls would suit your needs the best. One of our features will be that the auxiliary rolls will be quick change rolls that will allow you to change a full set of rolls in less than 3 minutes. There will be no tooling or keys to worry about. Just push a button to install or release the rolls allowing you to convert this machine from a Button Lock to an ACME/Drive Cleat machine or whatever combination you desire in just minutes. Another feature will be that there will be no adjustments necessary. The roll sets will have a gauge range, for example the Drive Cleat Rollers will range between 20 - 26 gauge.

The base price of this machine will be around $4,500.00. We will be offering the auxiliary roll sets for $875.00 each. For instance you can get this machine with male and female button lock rolls for $6,250.00. Or maybe you would just like ACME and Right Angle rolls. If you wish to buy all six sets the machine will be approximately $9,750.00. We feel that this machine will offer an alternative solution to the rather expensive Fourplex by price and functionality. Like with all RAMS equipment this will have our standard 2 year warranty and will always be in stock.

We are coming out with some very innovative ideas on this machine and we are very interested in your feed back on this. Please respond with any comments you would like and thank you in advance.

This machine sounds nice - We have used a lockformers Snaplock machine for years and our biggest problem was resetting them up, especially after a serious jamb.

Will this machine, with it's new design using the push buttons ease the pain of material jamb? Do you have any pictures of this.

Mctinner, thank you for your input. Typically when we come out with a machine we talk to our dealers and local sheet metal shops to see what problems they have come across with a particular machine or changes that they would like to see. We then like to incorporate those changes into our machine.

To answer your question, yes the push button design would help ease the pain by eliminating taking out all of the bolts. With the push button design you simply push the button and take off all of rollers, remove your jam and then put the top rollers back on. We will also have access panels to allow you to be able to access the rollers. We are toying with a hinged panel design. Within minutes you can have the jam out of the machine.

We do not have any pictures available yet. We do not want to give our competition too much information on this design. When the machine is completed and tested I will post any pictures and possibly a video showing this operation.

I would like to hear any other feedback from anyone who may have some other opinions.

Hi Tom - This sounds great!

Anyone else have any questions or ideas / features they'd like to see in a machine such as this RAMS-2014 Auxiliary Machine. Nows the time to let them know what works and what might not...thanks

How about a modified reeves lock or full reeves?
I talked to your sales office about a cheek bender , I will be contacting your vendor to place a order and look forward to trying one of your products ...

Joemetal,

We do not have any plans right now for a modified reeves lock or full reeves. Thank you for your interest and support in the RAMS product line. You will definitely be happy with your new RAMS Cheek Bender. Please feel free to call me with any questions you may have.

Tom,

Do you all make any specialized roll formers for 18 ga material? Is there a phone number and a contact to talk to someone at your company?

Your new machine sounds good.

Thanks

Pricer,

I'm sorry but we do not make any specialized roll formers for 18 ga material, the heaviest is 20 ga. Feel free to contact me anytime you like at 262-605-1122.

Thanks for the positive response on our new machine. We are getting very positive feed back on this machine and we can't wait to come out with it.

Thanks,

Tom

drizz1234,

We will be developing all types of auxiliary rolls with this machine. We are starting out with the ones that are most common and then working on developing rolls by demand.

Pricer,

To answer your question on the Pittsburgh lock we figured that most shops will already have a Pittsburgh Machine. If the demand is high enough that would be another roller that we would come out with.
