Welcome
If you're referring to a straight brake (bender) and a box & pan brake, the differenence is that the box and pan brake has several finger like peices that can be removed for side clearence.

If you've never used either one it's kind of hard to explain. But the first time you try to bend a box on a straight brake you'll understand  |
