I am replacing / rerouting ductwork in my basement and have researched the process and relied on the folks on this board to help me through the rough spots - appreciated. I have a section of duct that runs from the plenum to a branch "T". I have read some where that I need to have a pair of pants within this T section to assist in air flow. What is a pair of pants? Does it assist in airflow and is it required. There is nothing within the T section - clear view from one end of the duct to another.

Thanks again for the help.

blackaje............a pair of pants would connect an air handler with twin squirrel-cage blowers to a common duct...
Turning vanes are what you need........

Thanks for the assistance on this forum. Based on a previous question that I submitted concerning the "T" intersection of heating ducts I understand that I need to have turning vanes installed. Would someone be so kind as to point me to picture of a turning vane and also to someone that sells.

Thanks again for the assistance and advice.
