hey guys im new to the sight and was wondering if anyone knew how to weld copper? Not solder or braze, but weld. Anything would be helpful.marky - Jun 09, 2008 - 02:46 PM Post subject:
Before when i have welded copper i have either used t.i.g or oxy -acetylene , I t.i.g with the welder set on d.c possitve and using a thoriated tungsten ,i just use heavy copper wire e.g heavy industrial earth cable stripped down as a filler. to oxy -acetylene i use sifcupron no 17 rods these are for the welding of hot water tanks etc they have a low melting point ,have a good colour match and dont need any flux ,really good for thin gauge,on small pieces a small propane torch will do .hope this is of some help
